January Picture Post

Not a lot of excitement went on around here this past month... but here are a few pictures to chronicle our January 2012.

Birthday tulips from my dear friend Robin... these puppies brought me daily JOY!

And THIS, my friends, is how you rock the jeggings.

Not really sure what this face means, but usually it precedes some meanness on her part.

Scenes from the high chair

It's become my favorite place to take pictures of her.  The light is fantastic from the windows, and she's captive in her chair.  These are the faces I'll always remember.  How is it that she's going to be one so soon?

Double 3's

I turned 33 on Monday, and it ranks up there as one of the best birthdays on record.  For starters, it ended up hitting 75 degrees that day.  In January!  One of our babysitters was out of school because of MLK Day, so she came over and spent a few hours with the kids while I got a facial at Ihloff.  MAN, was that wonderful.  It had been a long time since I had had a facial, and I forgot just how pampering it is.  The rest of the day was relaxing, the kids were happy, and we went on a walk in the gorgeous weather.  Tomorrow night Grandma and Pa-Pa are having the older two spend the night while Jason and I hit the town for a belated birthday date night.  Hot Sauce will be picked up on the way home.  I keep reminding myself that this is the last (insert special occasion here... birthday, anniversary, whatever) that I'll be nursing... freedom is so close I can taste it!

Jason has had quite possibly the busiest start to a new year ever.  Since January 1st, he's recovered from a vasectomy, taken a trip to Omaha, succumbed to strep throat, and taken a trip to Denver.  Next month he's got meetings in Dallas and Las Vegas.  Such a busy boy!

Video of the Week

This week's video is of Baby Hane, now affectionately known as Hot Sauce (nomenclature given by her daddy), the big almost-one-year-old.  She loves to crawl from the living room to the front door, but on the way we play a quick game of 'You Get Back Here,' and she gets ridiculously silly and hyper.

Brown Bear Sighting

If you live anywhere near me, be on the lookout for a runaway brown bear.  This particular bear has been spotted in or around my driveway, rummaging for bite-sized table food and lots of hugs and kisses.  Call the authorities immediately!

Emerson said...

Last week sometime in the car, Daddy and Emerson were having a conversation about which "Cars" characters they liked to pretend to be.  She and Jax currently have a fascination for the "souped-up" cars that made Mack run off the road in the first movie.  Anywho, Daddy told Emerson that Mommy could pretend to be Wingo, one of the souped-up cars.  Her response?  "No, Daddy, Mommy doesn't know how to pretend.  She doesn't even try.  She's always nursing the baby and stuff."

I laughed out loud and quickly squashed the Mommy FAIL thought that was coming to the surface.  There is no telling how many times that girl has heard, "I can't (fill in the blank) right now, I've gotta nurse the baby" in her lifetime.  Basically two years of the four that she's been with us.  I will say that the benefit of having our babies so close together is that when she's older, she'll barely remember the nursing times when I couldn't join in her fun.  And I've slowly starting the weaning process with little sister, so those fun times are about to be really fun!

On that note, Daddy had his vasectomy today!  Long story short, he's pretty sure the doc didn't let the lidocaine do its thing long enough, I thought it would be interesting to watch the whole thing, and I almost passed out.  Good times in the urological center!
