Hayden's prayer at lunch: "Dear God, sank you for today, and OH GOD, I just can't stop SINKING about you and LOVING you. And Fodder God, sank you for giving us pants, and shorts, and short-sleeve shirts, and panties, and all dat kinda stuff. In Jesus' name, Ayyyymen!"

Emerson: Mommy, I don't really want to be a mommy.
Me: Why?
Emerson: Because I've seen what you do, and you do a great job, but I've seen your face, and it must be hard work.

Master Bath Reveal!

I didn't think this project was actually going to end, to tell you the truth. It's been one thing after another, most of it no one's fault, but we are finally using our renovated master bathroom. And let me just tell you...it's heaven.

Just in case you forgot what it looked like before:

And now, after two months' wait... COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!

 The wall color is Sherwin Williams Big Chill, and cabinet color is SW Requisite Gray.

To say I'm in love with this shower is an understatement. The marble, the shower head and body sprayer, the matching shelf inset and floor...it's my new fave place to be. The shower head and body sprayer can be used simultaneously, just in case there were ever two people who decided to shower together. *ahem* Just keepin' it real, people.

Then there's this little beauty. My first claw foot tub. Hayden's favorite place to bathe. I have yet to use it, but I hope to jump in there one of these days.

 Just a few of the details:

I remember asking my friend Bryn a few years back whether I should use oil-rubbed bronze for the fixtures if we ever did a master bath reno (in order to match the rest of the house). She convinced me that shiny chrome was the classic, timeless choice, and holy cow am I glad I listened to her! She was right on. Thank you, Bryn, if you are reading!!

We decided to go with stained concrete for the floor since our slab was intact and it was a cheaper option than faux-wood tile. I am thrilled with the outcome...I love the black and brown combination in the stain and the shiny top coat.

Emerson turned 7

I can't believe she turned seven this month! This birthday really felt different to me...I feel like this is the start of big-girl-ness.

We alternate 'friend' birthdays with 'family' birthdays each year, so this was her family year. We had pizza at Hideaway followed by cupcake decorating at home.

HH Convocation

Last week Emerson got to participate in the all-school Convocation, a tradition that pairs the youngest students with the oldest students. They start on the football field and walk hand-in-hand to the fine arts auditorium for some cool stuff (not exactly sure what, I didn't stay for that part. :)

Here is the entire student body and faculty on the football field. K-12. Love how small these class sizes are!

 Emerson went ON and ON about her new friend, Lucas. According to her first grade sources, he's the tallest kid in the entire upper school. And that was a BIG deal.

The day after my trip to Peoria, Emerson got her back-to-school haircut. She is loving the shorter look!

Daddy took a day off mid-week, and we drove to the OKC Science Museum. My friend Destiny and her daughter Lyla met us there.

Reunited! I've known this sweet girl since grade school...I love catching up after too much time has passed!

Jax and Lyla don't know it yet, but we have a pretty sweet arranged marriage planned out for them in about 25 years.

The kids and I took one final zoo trip before school began.

I've developed a pretty intense case of motion sickness since having Hayden, so I'm now the designated picture taker during the carousel rides. I can't do roller coasters, reading in the car, and playground swings now bother me. It's ridiculous!

Back-to-school was a success! Hayden started 3-yr-old preschool, Emerson started 1st, and Jax started K. 

Hangin' with me on her days off...this is how we do it.

Jax's first two days were only half days, so we had a date at Charlie's Chicken before picking his sisters up. There's a little table for two where we always sit...it's definitely our special spot.

And the master bath should be finished this week! Fingers crossed!!!
