Swanky Thank-You Cards for Cheap!
I'm one of those people who really likes the thought of having nice stationery, but I'm a little too frugal to pay full price at the cute little boutiques. So, when I saw that Shutterfly was running a promo for 12 free stationery cards, I couldn't resist. Click here for the deal! Enter "12FREE" at checkout. I saved $25.08 and only paid shipping & tax ($6.20) for 12 really adorable, high quality thank-you cards! The deal ends August 5th, so don't procrastinate, procrastinator.

Cousins
My sister Miley and her baby Avery drove down from Peoria last week. I hadn't seen my sister since Christmas (bah humbug on her living so far away), and it was so much fun getting to meet my newest niece! Avery has the cutest little birdie cry and isn't afraid to let you know when she's hungry... I think she's pretty feisty already! It's a cool thing to watch your little sister enter motherhood and be such a natural at it. I just wish we lived closer so our babies could spend lots of time together. Notice in the picture below Jax and Avery seem to be smitten already. Well, maybe it's a little more like Jax is forcing her to like him. Now that I look more closely, the look on her face is actually one of near-panic. She seems to be saying, 'Maybe if I hold really still, he'll get his chubby little paws off me.'

Bring out the Hellmann's...
and bring out the best! I craved mayo like crazy while pregnant with Jax. There were times I would make a sandwich and *accidentally* put too much mayo on the knife so I could eat it plain. Not kidding you. I was obsessed with it. The poor guy working at Subway in Bixby probably wanted to run when he saw my huge belly come through the door... 'Oh no, there's the large, angry pregnant lady who keeps telling me to add MORE MAYO.' Anyway, I thought Jax's pudgy little self would be a good tribute to the best condiment known to man. I mean, come on, he is Dutch... give him a break.

We love us some Baby H
Harrison is 8 months younger than Emerson, but he's definitely one of her favorite playmates. He's known around our house as Baby H, and probably will be until he turns 18. He's just so stinkin' cute! Today I took Emerson over to our new neighbors' house in the wagon, and she must've remembered riding in the wagon with him once at the pool and at the 4th of July fireworks show, because the first thing she said was, 'Baby H... Sit DOWN.'
Right now, as I type, Emerson is laying down on the office floor amid an entire deck of cards. She's picking them up one by one and saying, 'Hi guys. See ya.' She's a mess.
Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of H and the kids from this past week. Notice the final picture. I'm one of those friends who, when your child is upset, instead of picking them up and comforting them, I use them as a photo op. Ha! Cristin, really, if you decide to never leave your child with me again, I completely understand. :)

My big brother, the father of 3
How is it that time flies by so quickly? I look at the picture below of my brother Jace and wonder how it all happened. He should be back at our house in the country, shooting endless baskets or mowing the lawn or watching Hoosiers or tormenting my sister and me. There's just no way he brought his third child home from the hospital last week. Emerson loves her Uncle 'Dace' and often will say his name at the most random times, i.e. in the car on the way to Walmart, or this morning walking into church. It always makes me smile when she remembers him!

We had a nice, low-key weekend which started off with my monthly visit to Marilyn Ihloff with my friend Lisa on Friday (thank you, hubby, for financing my girls' day... I NEED it, right???). We got pedis then ate at Jason's Deli while the munchkins spent time with their Great-Grandma G-G and Great-Aunt Sue-Sue. I don't think I've ever posted a pic of Lisa, aka 'Dida.' Here we are at our friend Rachel's wedding last summer. Ain't we cute?!?

Lisa and I have been friends for a long time, and she's one of those people who knows way too much about me and still wants to be my friend! She let me live with her before Jason and I were married, and let me just tell you those were some fun times. We're pretty much cut from the same cloth, and that's dangerous when the two of us get together. We love "The Bachelor/Bachelorette" more than the average American and can throw down some cherry dump cake. She makes a mean 2-way chili and has the most precious chihuahua, Bella. So there you go... my friend Lisa in a nutshell. :)
Here's to a great week ahead... Emerson & Jax get to see Grammy, Uncle Travis, and have three playdates! It's going to be lots of fun!

She just makes me laugh
I took the kids to the library this morning to return Emerson's books and pick some new ones. So just a few minutes ago I walked into the living room to find her sitting on the couch looking at a book, and she was licking her pointer finger before turning each page. I laughed out loud! I just had to go over and give her big squeeze, to which she responded with a look that said, 'Get off me, I'm trying to read.'
This morning at breakfast she looked at me and said, through a mouthful of cheesy scrambled eggs, "I luh you, Mommy." Melted my heart! Of course, Daddy was the first to get this phrase unprompted, but I will settle for seconds on this one.

The crack dog's obsession with water
Especially when it's coming from the top of an octopus sprinkler...
He's CRAZY for spraying water. I'm sure we're not helping his sickness.

Another Turnbull cousin has arrived!
Vance Drager was born yesterday at 4:33 p.m., weighed 7 lb, 9 oz, and was 21 inches long! I LOVE being an aunt, and Vance rounds out the group to two nieces & two nephews. He's such a doll... I think he looks just like his mommy right now. Big brother Parker and sister Addison are obviously quite fond of him, and it looks like Daddy & Mommy have already fallen in love! Congrats, sweet family of FIVE! Wow!
It's so crazy to think that last year at Christmas there were 3 kids among the three Turnbull siblings and their spouses. This Thanksgiving there will be 6, and 3 of them under the age of 1! What fun it's going to be... fun mixed in with a little healthy dose of chaos!
