September Picture Post

Backyard fun while Big Sis is at school.

Celebrating with Mr. H at his first birthday!

Em with her friend Kate.

Handsome birthday boy!

Grandpa made a new step stool for the powder bath. Suddenly the kids LOVE washing their hands!

Last popsicles of the summer.

Hangin' with Daisycakes.

Chasing "Disco," the resident neighborhood cat that appears in our backyard every now and then.

Jax loves nothing more than to spot a mushroom growing in the yard, grab his plastic sword from inside, and chop that bad boy down. Hilarious.

Drawing with Daddy.

Em's class on a field trip to Whole Foods to talk about healthy eating.

The last few tomatoes of the year!

All-School Picnic

*Some of these photos are from the school's website. I do NOT have this great of a camera.

Last Friday the football players came to the Primary School for a pep rally. Em is 2nd in line.

This is our kindergartner walking onto the football field last Friday night, getting ready to perform with the other Primary School (K-3rd) before the game.

And here's a little snippet of the patriotic medley they performed. My apologies for the blurriness. I had my camcorder zoomed as far as possible from where we were sitting in the stands.

Will someone please tell her to tryyyy and show a little enthusiasm?

Here they are (K-3) taking their final bow after their performance.

And getting to be the spirit line for the football players. She was SO excited about this!

Walking hand-in-hand with her brother. I really need to get him some spirit wear. I can't believe he'll be there next year.

Jax had a blast playing carnival games.

Hot Sauce had a blast making faces with her mother.

My four favorite people.

We had a great night! I think it's going to be a fun tradition that we look forward to every year.

The New Building!

We closed on Jason's new office building this morning. He and Dave, J's partner in our wealth management firm, have been looking for what feels like forever, and the last building falling through because of asbestos seemed like such a setback.

But lo and behold, something better was waiting! This building is a lot bigger, and it was priced right. I think it's so cute! It was built in 1920, and the law firm that sold it had done some great updates. It has three floors plus a basement. Plenty of room for all of our current companies and room for growth as well! Right on the outskirts of downtown, it also has easy access from the highway.

The kids and I took a tour back in May. Here they are barely able to contain their excitement. Truth be told, I probably told them we were leaving and going to lunch, but still.

Mascara #5

Okay, I really liked the next mascara in my kit. It was Smashbox's Full Exposure.

Smashbox - Full Exposure Mascara

The wand was really lengthy, so it took a few days to get a feel for it. I felt like it really lengthened (although not quite as much as Benefit's They're Real), and it separated my lashes really nicely. The color was a nice, deep black.

At a $19.50 price tag, I think you're definitely getting your money's worth with this one.

6th Birthday Recap

Oh my, what a whirlwind week the birthday girl had. It started last Saturday morning with a Pancakes & PJs party at our house. Emerson invited eight of her dearest friends, some of them lifelong, and seven of them were able to make it. We were thrilled! I stole the idea from Pinterest, and it really was a fun, laid-back party. Thank you to Grammy for coming to help as well.

I forgot to take a picture of the food table, but I set out the pancakes and all manner of yummy toppings...strawberries, blueberries, bananas, chocolate chips, sprinkles, and of course syrup and whipped cream. Most of the girls couldn't finish their pancake!

The girls made fruit loop necklaces, dressed up, and played outside. We had a wonderful time!

The next order of business, birthday-wise, was a celebration in kindergarten. Because her teacher was going to be out of the class on her actual birthday (today), we celebrated on Tuesday with Nibbles cookies for the class. Here is the birthday girl in the fun birthday costume and with her fab teacher Mr. N.

Our final event of birthdaypalooza was a small family party last night. Her cousins weren't able to make it, but GiGi and Sue-Sue and Grandma and Pa-Pa came over. We had pizza and cake...it doesn't get much simpler than that! Love celebrating with family!

And my favorite birthday story (courtesy of Daddy). He was driving Jax and Hayden to preschool, and they were talking about Emerson's birthday party coming up. They were both screaming with excitement, and then all of a sudden Hayden got really serious. In a deep, throaty voice she said, "I'm not going to Emerson's birthday party." Jax said, "Hot Thoth...we ARE going to her party. It's Emerthon's party and we love her!" Then Hayden, still in her silly deep voice, said, "Maybe I'll stop by for a second."
