Houseguests

Jason's dad called today and invited us to stay with them tonight because of the snow coming in tonight/tomorrow.  So we're holed up at the in-laws' in case this girl decides to make her grand entrance in the next few days.  They only live two miles from our hospital, and it's about a 15-minute drive from our house.  We're looking at maybe 6-10" of snow starting tonight, and all of the area schools are already closed for tomorrow.

Emerson and Jax were so excited to stay at MeMaw & Pa-Pa's house tonight!  Emerson's sleeping in her sleeping bag in the office, and Jax is in the pack-n-play in a back bedroom.  I'll admit it is rather nice to be away from the house and all of the normal chores and routine upkeep.  I've been on the couch since we got here, forcing myself to relax.

If you live in the Tulsa area, stay warm and cozy tomorrow!

Could be soon...

So both yesterday and today I have noticed certain changes going on 'down there' that I'll spare you the details of, but it supposedly means labor is close.  Close, of course, can mean 24-48 hours to weeks away.  The pressure that I'm feeling is almost unbearable.  Just walking through the house is getting ridiculous.

Jax has become a big boy this week at preschool.  Daddy took the two of them on Wednesday because I had MOPS, and he said Jax walked, actually ran, into the room with no tears.  I figured it was a Daddy thing, but on Friday he did the same for me!  Success!  I guess I should be prepared for regression after baby sister gets here, and also due to the fact that we'll start moving next weekend.  Poor baby is going to be overwhelmed.  Emerson is getting really excited for the move and is devastated every time I stop by to pick up mail, etc., and we don't get to stay.

Friday after I dropped off the kids at preschool, I went to Ihloff for my hair appointment and then to my pedicure.  It was heavenly!  It's nice to know that I can look down at my toes at any point in transition and admire the bright red polish... the little things really do make a difference, people.  After preschool we had a playdate with an old friend, Kristen, that I've recently reconnected with.  We were in an elementary choir together and have run into each other off and on at parks and different places.  Her two girls are within months of Emerson and Jax's ages, so it made for a fun time.  Her background is personal training, and she developed the PregoFit workout DVD set (click HERE).  Way cool.

We decided to lay low this morning instead of going to church somewhere.  Getting my makeup on and wearing articles of clothing other than the Phillips baseball t-shirt and velour pants I'm currently sporting just wasn't going to happen.  Also the thought of my water breaking on a nice church seat was somewhat of a deterrent.

I'll keep you posted if anything happens!

Nesting!

I say nesting, but in actuality, it's more like an out-of-body surge of energy has happened to me today.  It started in the car around 12:30 today, and I started getting a little goofy singing along to Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Mary Poppins.  Normally it's a regular occurrence for me to get goofy while singing in the car, but that hasn't happened in a long time.  I've just been too tired, people.  The energy continued when we got home.  I put the kids to bed and watched The Bachelor which I missed last night, then I walked into the kitchen and cleaned it.  Entirely.  After naptime, the kids and I built no less than 5 or 30 towers of blocks and Legos, complete with the Cinderella cast of characters trapped inside the castle and trying to figure out how to get out.  I made dinner as soon as Daddy got home (sauteed shrimp, rice, steamed veggies, rolls), did the dishes/cleaned the entire kitchen afterward, then proceeded to have a lot of fun helping him put the kids to bed.  I know it sounds crazy... normally that would always be enjoyable to me, but it's been quite a while since I've felt good enough to enjoy the normal day-to-day grind.  Again, I've just been too tired and in pain by the end of the night.  The last task of the evening?  I used my beloved Shark steam mop and cleaned the kitchen tile.  So much fun!

My secret hope in all of this new-found energy is that it's signaling that labor is right around the corner.  I've heard that a lot of pregnant women experience this same type of nesting a few days before labor starts.  Please, Lord!  Let it be so!!!  However, I have a hair appointment and pedicure on Friday morning... I would really like to experience a few hours of pampering.  So maybe she'll come tomorrow.  Or Saturday.  Either one is great with me.

Saturday Morning

Daddy just thought he could get some work done today.

C'mon!

I got checked by my midwife yesterday, and I'm only dilated 1 freakin' centimeter!  ONE!!!

Hayden might just decide to go full term on me.  I've decided to change my mindset and not think about having her early to avoid mental torment these last few weeks.  In fact, tonight as I read Jax his books before bedtime, I really thought about the fact that these are the last few weeks he'll be the baby of the family.  Ever.  It's interesting because it didn't make me sad at all... I think it's because from the moment he was born, I knew he would have a sibling, and so he hasn't ever really seemed like the true 'baby' of the family.  The fact that he'll have been the baby for less than two years is probably part of it, too.  :)

I'm totally jealous of my friend Lisa in Houston who is attending Beth Moore's current Bible study.  Live.  With Beth.  In Person.  NO FAIR!!!

I've decided I'm not going to watch American Idol this year.  I'm just kind of done with it.  I know J.Lo and Steven Tyler would probably be entertaining, but to me it's just not the same without Simon.  Dude knew what he was talking about 98% of the time.  Plus, I've been keeping up with the new season of Bachelor, and I figure one show a week is plenty.  Well, other than The Office, it's the only show I watch.  Speaking of Office, when is it coming back on?  Feels like I haven't seen it in way too long.
